Underground Surf manufactures its own surfboard brand made up of shortboards, funboards and longboards and offers over 400 of the most popular surfboard brands in the world.

Underground's specialty is matching surfers at all stages to the perfect surfboard. If the right model isn't available we are passionate about forming the best team for custom builds including the right shaper, glasser and sander for your particular model.

HISTORY

Underground Surf began in Kirra on the Gold Coast as a grass roots surf shop supporting strictly underground labels and local hand shapers.
In 2010 Underground moved into larger premises in Coolangatta previously inhabited by the legendary landmark Retro Groove, and later back to settle in Ondi's adopted hometown, Noosa on the sunshine coast of Australia.
 
The Underground vision is to bring together the surfing styles and influence of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s with the more modern technology used in surfboards today.
 
The Underground experience is warm and down-to-earth and everyone who visits the shop is treated as individuals, with different needs, who all happen to have a passion for surfing, skating or vintage. With no retail history Ondi's friendly approach and immense knowledge of surfboards helped him build Underground from 3 surfboards and a few generic board shorts in a Kirra lounge room to 400 boards and major clothing labels including Quiksilver and Roxy in Hastings Street Noosa and a busy board manufacturing business.

Andre 'Ondi' Marsaus Surfboard Collection

Ondi, often referred to as ‘the vintage surfing Wiki’, and known for his passion for vintage surfboards, has been featured in numerous publications with his expansive collection and knowledge of vintage surfboards.

A Noosa local since the late 80’s, Ondi created thousands of exquisite meals as Executive Chef of high-end restaurants, leaving for short periods of time throughout the years to open restaurants in Melbourne and Tasmania and cook for dignitaries and members of the royal family.

Andre 'Ondi' Marsaus shaping bayA true professional at anything he turns his hand to, Ondi’s sporting achievements include motorcross racing and managing and racing in the Australian Super Bike Series; racing Grand Prix machinery, super bikes and super sport.

Ondi now focuses on producing high quality surfboards and matching surfers to their ideal board to take them to the next level. Popular with the locals and visitors, his expertise and authenticity has helped thousands of people over the years and allows him to talk all day about his favourite topic!
