Edward Sawden has been a keen surfer, shaper and photographer since the 1960’s. His images shed a beautiful feel and acknowledge some classic surfing characters including Ma and Pa Bendall and Snowy McAllister.
Eddie shapes traditional longboards and surfs as well as many of the young ‘hotdoggers’ of the modern era. Back in the 1960’s he was taking photos and surfing with his brother Bernard Sawden who is featured in many of his classic images. Eddie is a Currumbin kid and back in those days the waves were best just down the road from where the point is today, near the existing Currumbin surf club.
Eddie continues to attend surfing gatherings up and down the East coast of Australia and often puts on photographic exhibitions of his work. His photographs are available for sale.
Eddie is responsible for rare images of Peter Drouyn surfing Kirra in the old days, and some say it was a sight to behold.
Underground has been selling Surfboards by Edward Sawden almost since its inception and is always proud to offer such a quality board every time Eddie creates one.
